Christmas Party
A Christmas party was held at the house where I'm staying in Newcastle.

The scale was completely different from any Christmas party I'd been to before. Family, relatives, neighbors—all kinds of people gathered at this house.
Personally, when a lot of people get together, I just can't talk at all. I was aware of that about myself. I thought maybe traveling had changed me a bit, but nope—not at all. Still as shy as ever.
Australian Christmas Food: Seafood Takes Center Stage
With all that going on, I enjoyed the food.

I got the impression that Australian Christmas features a lot of seafood. Big prawns, mussels, vegetables, meat, and wine—all laid out on the table.
Unexpected Christmas Presents
I also received Christmas presents, which I wasn't expecting. Incense, socks, and food. I didn't think I'd get so much, and I hadn't prepared anything. So I rushed back to my room, wrote a letter, and gave it to them.

Up until now, I'd always spent Christmas with a partner or alone, so this was probably my first time experiencing Christmas with a family. Being able to experience this kind of culture firsthand was something I'm really grateful for.
