A Morning of Rest and Reflection

On February 25, I decided to take a rest day at the home of the family who kindly hosted me. But I didn’t want it to be a day of simply doing nothing. So, I spent the morning writing a letter. Writing letters has become my way of showing gratitude. Even if I cannot repay kindness with material things, I can at least leave behind words that express my appreciation.
By midday, I had finished my tasks, and soon after, the father of the family returned home. He invited me to lunch, and we went to a nearby restaurant. I was once again treated with kindness, and I felt deeply thankful for their generosity.
Discovering Local History

In the afternoon, they took me on a small tour around Baldivis and its surrounding areas. One of the highlights was a monument featuring an old submarine.
Standing close to it, I was struck by its size. It wasn’t only the submarine itself—the tail fin, the structure, and even some old cannons once in use were on display nearby. Seeing such large machinery up close left a strong impression on me.
A Farewell Dinner

That evening, knowing I would depart the next day, they invited me to a farewell dinner at a Mexican restaurant.
When I looked at the menu, I hesitated. The prices were higher than I was used to, and I felt a bit nervous about ordering. In the end, I chose mushroom chips. At first glance, the dish looked ordinary, but the taste was absolutely delicious. I was glad I trusted my instinct.
During dinner, I gave them the letter I had written. Watching their emotions as they read it, I knew I had done the right thing. Words may be simple, but they carry real meaning when they come from the heart.
Small Acts of Kindness
On the way home, the father handed me a bag of chocolate-coated snacks. I have a sweet tooth, so it felt like the perfect gift.
Earlier in the day, we had also gone shopping together. Without hesitation, he bought everything I might need, saying, “You’ll need this.” That moment truly reflected the generosity I have encountered in Australia.
Two days in Baldivis passed quickly, but I left with my heart full of gratitude. Their kindness will stay with me as I continue my journey.
