A Hectic Yet Heartwarming Morning

July 2nd. My host this morning was busy filming a video, which made for a pretty hectic start to the day. Still, he made sure I was well taken care of, cooking up a breakfast of eggs, eggplant, and rice before I headed out.
On top of that, he prepared drinking water for my walk and even dried my clothes for me. That kind of thoughtful hospitality, especially first thing in the morning, really set a warm tone for the day ahead.
When a Ride Offer is Just a Joke
Not long after I set off, a friend of my host pulled up and offered me a ride in his car. For a second, I actually considered it. But it turned out he was just joking around, having a bit of fun at my expense.
It caught me completely off guard, but I couldn't help but laugh along. Moments like these are exactly why I love traveling here—you never quite know what's coming next, and the sense of humor is contagious.
Endless Photos and Delicious Noodles

Further down the road, a local family invited me to eat with them, treating me to a bowl of "mami," a Filipino noodle soup. It was simple, comforting, and exactly what I needed.
There was an older man at the table who was absolutely obsessed with taking my photo—snapping a new one every ten seconds or so. It was equal parts hilarious and endearing, and by the end of the meal, I think he had more photos of me than I do of myself.
Arriving in San Miguel and a Rainy Rescue

After a relatively short 14km walk, I finally arrived in San Miguel, a small, quiet town. Just as I was figuring out my next move, a sudden rainstorm hit hard.
Once again, a local family came to the rescue, inviting me to stay the night at their home. Their generosity turned what could have been a miserable, soaked evening into another reminder of just how far Filipino hospitality goes.
Tomorrow, I'm setting my sights on Trinidad. But for now, I'm grateful, dry, and full—ready to rest up for whatever tomorrow brings.
