A Quiet Battle with Perfectionism
June 11th. Today was technically an "off" day, though I spent the entirety of it glued to my screens, churning out content for social media.
I've always had a stubborn streak of perfectionism, but lately, I've been actively trying to strip that away—pushing myself to simply create more as a personal challenge. It was a day of testing my limits, and I managed to wrap up about five different pieces of content.
Why put so much effort into social media, anyway? It's not like it's an absolute necessity. Honestly, it just boils down to a promise I made to myself before this journey even began.
Going Beyond the Surface
A major pillar of my travels is diving deep into local cultures and ethnic communities. My goal isn't just to skim the surface and summarize where I went; I want to profoundly explore what I've experienced and expressed through my art along the way.
Curating videos and photos for Instagram forces a beautiful kind of reunion. Let's be real—about 90% of the media we capture usually ends up rotting away in our camera rolls, completely ignored. But the act of editing intentionally creates an opportunity to sit down and truly look at them again.
Looping Back to Reality
Suddenly, the vibrant smells of a specific moment and the warmth of a fascinating encounter all come rushing back. By revisiting these digital memories, I spark new perspectives and find my mind looping right back to the sheer importance of the physical experience.
We live in an increasingly online world, but ironically, staring at a screen is what reminds me that the "real" world is what truly matters. Reconnecting with the digital past just reinforces the undeniable value of the present reality, creating a cycle I want to experience over and over.
June 11th ended up being a powerful day of feeling and learning exactly that.
