Layover Number Five in Malaysia
I departed from Sydney International Airport and arrived in Malaysia for my layover. Believe it or not, this marks my fifth time transiting through Malaysia.
Even though I landed right around 1:00 AM, the first thing I did was track down some food.

I ended up getting chicken and pork meatballs along with a drink called a "Red Refresher," which seemed like a healthy enough choice. The meal cost 57 Ringgit, which is roughly 2,200 yen (about $15 USD).

Being in transit really starts to warp your sense of how much things should cost.

My connecting flight to Haneda wasn't scheduled until 2:50 PM, leaving me with a massive 10-hour window to kill. I took my sweet time, eating slowly and just trying to pass the hours.
The Pricey Pre-Flight Pint
Right before heading to the departure lobby to finally catch my flight, I treated myself to a Heineken.

I didn't check the price tag beforehand, but it set me back around 1,000 yen (roughly $7 USD). I knew going into it that beer is notably expensive in Malaysia, but it still felt like quite a hit to the wallet.
Touching Down in Japan
Finally, late at night, I touched down at Haneda Airport.

It’s been about six or seven months since I was last in Japan—my last visit was back in August or September for some dental work. After such a grueling journey, there's a profound sense of relief and accomplishment just stepping off the plane.
My only problem right now is my luggage, which is absolutely massive and completely excessive. While trying to figure out how on earth I'm going to haul all this stuff, I'm just settling in at the airport, waiting for morning to come so my parents can pick me up.
