August 30th: The Laziest Morning Ever
August 30th.
I've been staying in Ambon, Maluku for the past few days, and today was definitely my laziest day here so far.
I didn't actually get out of bed until noon. I woke up around 10 AM, but I just lay there listening to music and ended up falling right back asleep. I knew I was being a total slacker, but I just couldn't stop myself, so it was already 12 PM by the time I finally started my day.
Once the clock hit noon, I dragged myself out to grab some food. I ended up eating some Soto Ayam (chicken soup) at a street food stall right around the corner.

Battling Motivation and an Evening Stroll
After heading back to the hotel, I put in some time studying—a routine I've been trying to keep up with lately. Since I'm in Indonesia, I really want to be able to speak at least a little bit of Indonesian, so I've been hitting the books.
Honestly though, my motivation was all over the place today. I kept thinking, "This is bad," and tried to figure out how to better control my drive while sitting at my desk. I ended up in a cycle of studying, napping, and studying again until the evening rolled around, at which point I decided to go for a short walk outside.
Experiencing the "City of Music"
While walking around, I stumbled upon a gathering of people all dressed in black. I asked what was going on, and they told me they were practicing a song for a nearby church.
About 20 of them got together and started singing a cappella, and wow... they were absolutely incredible. It really hit me hard and reminded me exactly why Ambon is known as the "City of Music."

You can literally hear music everywhere in this town. It's so normal to see kids casually playing the ukulele or beating on a small traditional drum called a "tifa." If you walk outside, music is playing late into the night, and everyone just naturally embraces the vibe.
Experiencing that environment firsthand was magical, and it completely reaffirmed the city's musical reputation for me. After soaking in that amazing atmosphere, I grabbed dinner at my usual food stall and wrapped up my super chill day.
