Morning of Departure

February 8th, Pronojiwo. The morning began as it always had—Chandra’s family preparing breakfast as if it were the most natural thing. Their kindness made each day easier, and on this final morning, it felt even more precious.
I packed my bags, tightened the straps, and was ready to continue my journey. Chandra smiled and said, “I’ll ride with you part of the way.” His words filled me with gratitude. To be accompanied even in those last moments meant more than I could express.
Rain That Changed the Plan
Just when we started off, the sky darkened. Within minutes, heavy rain poured down. For four days it had been nothing but sunshine, yet on the day of departure, the rain decided to fall.
We took shelter at the home of a nearby villager. I thought it would pass quickly, but the rain kept coming. Eventually, it became clear: my departure had to wait. I would stay one more night.
Encounters Along the Way

On the way back, we passed a hair salon with a sign reading NARUTO Salon. I couldn’t help but laugh, imagining the wild hairstyle I might get if I stepped inside.
Then, schoolchildren walking home in the rain spotted me. We exchanged cheerful high-fives, their small hands wet from the drizzle. In that moment, I realized: if not for the rain, I never would have met them. What first felt like an inconvenience had turned into a gift.
A Final Evening Together

Back at Chandra’s home, the unexpected extra day became a blessing. I spent the evening quietly with his family, sharing food, laughter, and conversation. No rush, no plans—just simple togetherness.
It wasn’t the farewell I had expected. But sometimes, the journey decides for you. Rain had delayed my departure, yet it gave me one last day of warmth in Pronojiwo. And for that, I was deeply grateful.
