A Breathtaking Dawn
My day started beautifully early. At 4:50 AM, for some inexplicable reason, my eyes fluttered open.

I glanced out the window and was immediately struck by the view. Right before the 5:00 AM sunrise, the sky was painted in an unbelievable gradient of vivid orange and deep crimson. The way the morning light crept into the world was so mesmerizing that I practically jumped out of bed, rushed outside, and snapped a photo of the scenery.
Riding that early morning high, I headed straight out for a run. After finally taking care of a pesky bug that had eluded me the day before, I let my body relax into the rhythm of the crisp mountain air. I've been running this same route every day since coming back to my parents' house in Gunma, but today was special—I finally made it all the way to the top of the steep hill without stopping once. By the time I got back, my grandma was just waking up to start her day.
Lost in the Mountains

The area around my family home is surrounded by nature that is almost hard to describe. No matter which direction you look, you're greeted by lush, towering mountains. It honestly feels less like typical Gunma and more like you're hidden deep in the remote highlands of Nagano Prefecture. Just walking along the roads here is enough to completely clear your mind.
Local Soul Food and Chores
For lunch, we had a colorful bowl of chirashizushi (scattered sushi).

Shortly after, my mom and I headed out to pick up one of my absolute favorite local comfort foods: Motsuni (a rich pork tripe stew). I love this stuff so much that we bought three hearty portions for 3,000 yen (about $20 USD).
The rest of the afternoon was spent doing some rustic chores around the house. I helped chop some wood, scrubbed down the fridge, and cleaned the walls. There's something incredibly grounding about doing physical labor surrounded by this kind of quiet nature.
Wrapping Up Code and A Wonton Hotpot

As the evening rolled around, I shifted gears back to my remote work. I officially wrapped up the coding for a habit-tracking app I've been building, which felt like a massive weight off my shoulders.
Dinner was exactly what I needed: a steaming pot of Wonton Nabe (hotpot). It was the perfect balance—rich and comforting, but not too heavy.
As I lay here winding down, I feel this immense, undeniable sense of fulfillment. Today was a 100% perfect day, fueled by simple joys, good food, and the beautiful Japanese countryside.
