A Bizarre Morning & My Daily Food Routine
August 22nd started with a bit of a shock. I opened my door in the morning and... yep, a dead cockroach right there to greet me. What a way to kick off the day, right? (laughs)

I shook it off and headed out to my usual street food stall for breakfast. I ordered Nasi Ayam (chicken rice), which never disappoints. It's comforting, delicious, and exactly what I needed to get my day going.

Later, I stopped by a drink stand near my hotel to grab a fresh mango juice. Just chilling and taking it easy.

For lunch, I went straight back to my favorite stall and ordered Sarumento again—the exact same egg-noodle dish I had yesterday. Don't judge me, it's just that good!

Chasing Seafood in the Moody Port Town
When night fell, there were plenty of food stalls lined up right outside my hotel, but I felt like switching things up. So, I took a walk down to Pasar Ikan, the port town area, to hunt for some fresh local fish.

The vibe at the port at night is super unique. It's dimly lit, a little heavy, and has this gritty, moody atmosphere that I absolutely love. If you ever visit Ambon, I highly recommend checking out this area after dark—it's a deeply authentic experience.
I found a small stall and ordered a whole fried fish, served simply with sambal on the side.

Finding Magic in the Mundane
Looking back, I didn't do anything crazy or adventurous today. It was just a perfectly ordinary day.
But honestly, those "normal" days have a special kind of magic. When you aren't rushing from one tourist spot to another, you start noticing the little things—the smell of the wind, a sudden light rain, or the feeling of walking down a new street.
It made me realize how important it is to appreciate the mundane. Just having the mental space to enjoy these tiny shifts in my surroundings felt incredibly rewarding. Tomorrow (August 23rd), I plan to keep exploring the neighborhood at my own pace. Let's see where the day takes me!
