Morning with the Kind Mechanic

Good morning. In the cool air of early dawn, the familiar “old man” arrived. He had promised to help me with my broken bicycle—the one that had stopped after the bolt on the rear rack snapped a few days earlier.
The result was beyond what I had hoped for.
The rear carrier was once again solidly fixed, the bolts tightened perfectly. With practiced hands, he handled the tools swiftly, and in no time, the repair was complete. Watching him work filled me with deep gratitude.
He looked at me and said, “Now it’s good as new. Enjoy your ride all the way to Melbourne.”
With those words, I felt a quiet courage returning, a gentle push to keep moving forward.
A Table of Warmth

When I returned to the caravan after the repair, the host’s wife was waiting for me—with a table set full of warm, colorful dishes.
Each plate was prepared with care, and with every bite I felt as though I was being reminded, “It’s okay for you to be here.” The flavors carried not just nourishment but also a kindness that reached straight into my heart.
The Value of Stillness
This day was not filled with grand sights or distant travels. There were no cliffs or oceans to marvel at, no new towns to explore.
And yet, it became a day that quietly filled me.
There was nothing I needed to do. No rush, no pressure. This simple pause in the middle of my journey—time with kind people, time without demands—was exactly what I needed.
