A Comfortable Morning at the Table

I woke at 8 a.m. to the warmth of a home I had been welcomed into. Breakfast with the family was simpleābread, ham, bacon, and hot coffeeābut during a journey, such meals feel like true feasts.
Half an hour later, my host said, āIāll take you somewhere you can only reach by car.ā From that moment, the day promised something special, beyond what I could have managed alone.
Australia Rock and the Seal Colony

The first stop was Australia Rock, a seaside landmark near Narooma. Its outline, carved by waves, looks strikingly like the shape of the Australian continent. Around the rocks, 20 to 30 New Zealand fur seals rested. Watching their calls and playful gestures so close made it more than sightseeingāit was an encounter with living nature.
The Coastline and Mystery Bay
From there, we drove along the coastline to Mystery Bay, a beautiful beach between Narooma and Tilba Tilba. I had passed by here on my bicycle before but hadnāt stopped due to time. Visiting now, guided by locals, I could feel its calm atmosphere and the deep blue of the sea settle into my memory.
Lunch in Tilba Tilba

For lunch, we went to Tilba Tilba, a historic village filled with wooden buildings and a touch of artistic spirit. Its charm reminded me of the town of Denmark in Western Australia.
I ordered a chicken parmaājuicy chicken topped with rich tomato sauce and melted cheese. At 25ā30 dollars, it was a bit pricey but filling and satisfying for a hungry traveler. Paired with a cold lager beer, the meal was perfect. Shared conversation with local friends made it even more enjoyable.
An Evening Home Party

By evening, the same friends came to my hostās home for dinner. The table was filled with a rich prawn soup and dark, flavorful beer. These were the kinds of dishes I rarely encountered on the road, and I savored every bite, silently trying to etch the moment into memory.
The night was filled with laughter and conversation. To be welcomed so warmly as a traveler left me deeply grateful.
A Day That Will Stay With Me
This was not just a day of sightseeing but of meaningful human connections. The ocean views, the seals, the meals, and the kindness of peopleāall became part of a memory that will remain.
In the small coastal town of Narooma, I found a day that truly brightened the pages of my journey.
