The Best Morning News & A Slight Detour ๐ข
August 4th started with the absolute best news.
I woke up and found out my Indonesian visa finally came through! I was so hyped that I decided to pack up and head to Indonesia tomorrow morning.

Wanting to get everything sorted, I took a quick 5 to 7-minute walk to the ferry terminal to buy tomorrow's ticket.

My original plan was pretty straightforward: catch a direct boat from Tawau straight to Tarakan.
But, plot twistโthe ferry is currently under repair and totally out of service!
Time for a quick pivot. Instead of getting stuck, I decided to take an alternative route via a place called Nunukan. The new plan is to head to Nunukan first, and then catch a connecting ferry over to Tarakan. We'll see how it goes tomorrow, fingers crossed!
Catching Up on Work & Eating Well ๐ฆ
After sorting out my travel plans (sort of), I headed back and grabbed some Nasi Campur Ikan (mixed rice with fish) for breakfast.
I spent the rest of the morning chilling at the hotel and catching up on some much-needed work.
For lunch, I just walked over to the restaurant right in front of my hotel. I ordered the Udang Butter Basah (Wet Butter Prawns). Let me tell you, it was incredible.

Did some more work in the afternoon, and for dinner, I couldn't resist going back to the same fried food spot I visited yesterday. It really is just that good.

A Nostalgic Night Walk ๐
Later in the evening, I went for a late-night stroll around town.

I wandered through the event grounds where the massive 3-day festival had just wrapped up. I had joined in on the fun earlier, so seeing everything completely dismantled and cleaned up gave me a slightly empty, nostalgic feeling.
Realistically, it'll probably be a year or more before I step foot in this town again.
But as one chapter closes, a completely new one begins. Tomorrow, I cross into Indonesia. I am so ready to make some unforgettable memories in a new country!
