Stepping Off the Beaten Path

On May 30th, I set out early in the morning, heading toward the home of my friend's wife's younger sister. After meeting up at the local bus terminal, we hopped on a bus bound for Carcar. This town is located roughly 40 kilometers south of Cebu. Carcar is incredibly famous for its lechon, a mouthwatering local roasted pig.

We grabbed a bite to eat there before continuing our journey. Accompanied by the older sister's husband—who happens to run a flower shop—we veered north and ventured deep into the mountainous forest.

As we plunged further into the unknown, the Wi-Fi signal slowly choked and died out. Before long, we were completely swallowed by pristine, untouched jungle. It was a mesmerizing environment, utterly stripped of modern civilization.
Life in the Wild

What I found there was a vibrant, unfiltered way of life. Local kids were playing a spirited game of basketball, and a young guy effortlessly scaled a towering 10-meter coconut tree just to harvest fresh coconuts for us. Later, we all gathered around to share a truly delicious homemade dinner together.
Being wrapped in such a breathtaking, wild landscape brought on a profound realization. I felt deeply that humanity's true roots belong right here, in the heart of nature.
Stepping into this unfamiliar world right before my real journey begins has me absolutely buzzing with excitement. I am endlessly grateful to my friends for offering me such a priceless, raw experience to kick off the adventure.
