Sweet Farewells in Bohol

July 4th marked the day I finally packed my bags to leave Bohol and head back to Cebu. To catch the ferry, I needed to make my way to a port town called Getafe, but I had plenty of time to kill before departure.
I decided to keep a promise I had made. The day before, a local girl I met insisted I drop by so she could give me some coconuts. True to her word, she generously loaded me up with not just coconuts, but mangoes and some strange, moisture-absorbing blueberries! It easily became one of the absolute best memories of this trip.
Deciding to head back there the previous day was definitely the right call. I got to hear her fascinating stories and connect on a deeper level, diving into real, raw conversations about people's inner thoughts. After a heartfelt goodbye to her and her boyfriend, I set off for Getafe.
Making the Cut: The 1:15 PM Ferry

I rolled into the port at Getafe right around 1:03 or 1:04 PM. Talk about perfect timing—the final ferry to Cebu was scheduled to leave at exactly 1:15 PM! If I had missed it, the next option wouldn't have been until 4:00 PM, or I would have had to scramble to find an alternative route. Lady Luck was definitely on my side.
Navigating the ferry with all my heavy luggage was a bit of a struggle, but thankfully, some kind locals stepped in and helped me carry my bags onboard.
Welcome to the Concrete Jungle

Arriving in Cebu City was a bit of a shock to the system. My immediate thought? Way too many cars. Compared to the laid-back vibes of Bohol or Negros, the traffic here is just insane, even if the population feels somewhat similar. Navigating through the endless stream of vehicles left me feeling a little drained right off the bat.
Catching Up at Carbon Market
To escape the chaos, I headed over to the Carbon Market area to meet up with an acquaintance who lives locally. We hung out, grabbed some food together, and just spent time catching up. Eventually, I found myself standing back at the very spot where this whole journey began.
What's Next?
So, where to next? The Kingdom of Brunei!
I have about ten days until my next adventure kicks off, so it's time to rest up and start getting ready for the next chapter.
