The 37-Pound Reality Check
Well, I've hit a few unexpected bumps in the road.
First of all, I've gained weight. A lot of it. Between writing my book back in Australia and traveling around Japan recently, things have gotten a bit out of hand.

I haven't quite hit the 20kg mark, but I've packed on about 17kg (around 37 lbs), bringing my current total weight to 86kg. Before this journey started, my last weigh-in was somewhere around 69 to 71kg, so the difference is pretty staggering.
I actually filmed myself in this rather unpolished state on purpose. It's a harsh visual reminder—a lifelong warning to myself that if I don't get it together, my appearance is only going to get worse.
The Price of Culinary Bliss
But let's be real, I've been eating incredibly well. From amazing wine to endless bowls of rice and noodles, I've indulged in some truly fantastic food. Of course this was going to happen.

When you experience positive things and take in so much goodness, there's bound to be an equal reaction. If you don't find a way to burn off what you take in, this is exactly what happens. I recorded this as a lesson to myself.
A Surprise Root Canal & Change of Plans
Then came the second major hurdle: I suddenly needed dental surgery. I had to get a root canal, and my dentist explicitly told me that I can't set off on my trip until May at the earliest.
It is what it is. Honestly, there's no pressing reason why I absolutely must rush out the door right now. I've learned that the moment you feel a frantic urge to hurry is exactly when you need to brace yourself, take a step back, and reassess your situation.
Embracing the Pause
So, my departure is officially delayed. But I'm not going to sit around complaining or slacking off. I still have a massive mountain of things I need to get done. So for now, I'm shifting all my focus and energy into tackling those tasks head-on.
