A Relaxing Morning & Next-Level Breakfast

June 19th. Today is a complete rest day!
While I was taking it easy this morning, our host brought over breakfast. It seems like they serve breakfast every single time—so incredibly sweet of them. And it wasn't just a simple piece of toast, either. We're talking a full-on feast with rice, veggies, fresh fruit, and even fish! The hospitality here is just off the charts.
Exploring Downtown Bais

Right now, I'm staying in a town called Bais. Since I have the day off, I figured, why not head downtown and see what's going on?
To my surprise, the host's husband offered me a ride in what looked like an electric vehicle. He is seriously just as kind as his wife!
I wandered around the local market and hit up a few spots. The vibe was super unique. There were fish in the craziest colors I've ever seen, and the whole atmosphere was just buzzing. Inside and around the market, produce stalls were spilling over with fresh vegetables and fruits everywhere you looked—it was such a fascinating, entirely new sight for me.
Friday Night Street BBQ

After heading back and taking a quick nap, the evening plan was to hit up a local BBQ spot. Once again, the husband tagged along to show me the ropes.
Maybe it was because it was Friday night, but the local energy was amazing. The BBQ joints had this cool setup where, as soon as the sun goes down, they bring out a bunch of chairs and tables, and everyone just eats together outside.
Our host knows this town like the back of his hand. He was essentially my personal tour guide, which was such a great learning experience. Bais is actually a pretty large town, and getting to know it through a local's eyes made me feel so incredibly grateful.
Tomorrow, it's back on the road. I've got two days left to make my way to my final destination, Dumaguete. Let's do this!
