A Quiet Morning in Siem Reap

Hello from Siem Reap. Today is a day of rest. From the top floor of my guesthouse, I looked out over the city. The hallway stretched quietly, the entrance stood warmly open, and the sauna waited downstairs. Everything here felt like a small gift to be used, enjoyed, and appreciated.
Friendly Faces at Lunch

For lunch, I walked to a nearby café. The staff were incredibly friendly, and somehow their kindness made the food taste even better. Gratitude can turn a simple meal into something rich and memorable.
Later, I joined the guesthouse owner at another café. Over cups of coffee, we spoke about philosophy, business, travel—so many subjects that flowed freely. It is rare to meet someone who can wander through such diverse topics. Talking with him made the journey itself feel deeper, as if the road were not only about landscapes, but also about conversations that shape the spirit.
An Unexpected Experience: Ear Cleaning

In the afternoon, I kept an unusual appointment—with a YouTuber who offers ear-cleaning sessions. Originally a backpacker, he has countless stories, each one interesting and unique. Of course, the ear cleaning itself was soothing too.
By chance, another traveler joined us. He had adventured around the world decades ago and was now retracing those same paths. To walk a road again after so many years must feel like entering a new country altogether, seeing firsthand how time changes everything.
I found myself thinking—twenty years from now, I would like to do the same: to set out once again and relive my own adventures, watching how the world and I have both changed.
When my turn finally came, the session lasted forty minutes. It was deeply relaxing, and the YouTuber told me my ears were already clean—perhaps the daily use of cotton swabs had done its work.
Evenings of Food and Happiness

At night, I met the owner again. We shared beer, ate at food stalls, and laughed together. Every dish was satisfying, every sip complete.
It struck me once again: when our stomachs are full, much of life feels resolved. Food is the foundation of happiness. Of course, family, friends, and love add to the joy of living. But at the very root, as long as we can eat, we can be content.
To fill the stomach, even a little, is to remind ourselves that life still offers us more than enough to be happy.
